Element is a family-founded, locally rooted and family-owned event design, production, and rental company with a legacy spanning more than 40 years across Louisiana and the Gulf South. Now in its third generation, Element combines decades of hands-on experience with a forward-thinking approach to creative event production.
Our story began in 1982 when George Young Sr. launched the Young family’s first rental business after a chance encounter led him to purchase a Taylor Rental franchise. His sons, Steven and Richard, grew up working in the company, learning every part of the business from the ground up — from equipment repairs and washing equipment to making deliveries and handling sales and operations. That hands-on foundation shaped the work ethic, attention to detail, and service mindset that still define the company today.
As the business grew, the family expanded into events with Crescent City Tents, one of New Orleans’ original tent, table, chair, and catering rental providers. Richard later purchased the company and moved operations into the family’s first location in Old Gretna. He unified the family’s businesses under the name Event Rental LLC, bringing equipment, tents, and event infrastructure together under one brand. As the company evolved creatively, expanded its capabilities, and acquired additional companies, the brand was reintroduced as Element to better represent its focus on design, fabrication, and full-scale event production.
In 2015, Element moved into its current home in Algiers: an 11-acre compound with a 100,000-square-foot facility that allows our team to design, fabricate, store, and produce large-scale events with efficiency and precision. This space gives us the ability to handle everything from custom builds to complete event environments in-house. The company now includes a dedicated drapery and upholstery workroom, a full carpentry workshop, and a vinyl printing and wrapping studio led by Richard’s son, Chris Young — all supporting Element’s comprehensive event production capabilities.
Element’s creative expansion continued with the addition of Chad Chaison, who spearheaded the company’s design, décor and furnishings division. Following COVID, Valerie Landry joined the team as Vice President, helping guide operations and strategic growth, while Octavia Young, Richard’s daughter, now serves as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), representing the third generation helping lead the company forward. Together, they have supported Element’s continued expansion into Mississippi and across Louisiana from Baton Rouge to Lafayette.
Today, Element is a full-service event partner providing design, tents, custom fabrication, décor, furnishings, drapery, vinyl graphics, and complete event production. While our capabilities have grown, we remain grounded in the same family values we started with — hard work, attention to detail, and treating every client like part of the family.
ELEMENT is the merger of Event Rental, Gulf Coast Tent Rentals and Henri Schindler Studios.
